They've kept the major beats in the story and thank God they got a real Native American to play John Rainbird. "I read the script beforehand and I thought to myself, okay, what they've done here is they have concentrated the story and made it a family story. Additionally, the writer liked the casting of Michael Greyeyes for the character Rainbird. King thought highly of the actor's performance. Unlike the first motion picture, Efron's character does not lie to his kid. ![]() This character, this iteration of Andy McGee, doesn't do that. In the original Firestarter movie there's a lot of, 'Oh, Charlie, everything's going to be all right.' There's nothing that raises my hackle so much as lying to a child. "If you compare David Keith as Andy McGee and Zac Efron, I think Efron wins the battle because he seems a lot more intelligent, and he does a lot less lying to the kid, too. ![]() King appreciated that the actor who plays the father in the remake is more honest than the one in the original. ![]() ![]() The illustrations are fun for kids, with wild facial expressions from Goat and Frog and silly objects that get pulled in. With Willems’ signature large speech bubbles, early readers will be able to experience this book for themselves, while parents will have no problem incorporating it into storytime or an at-home reading lesson. Even if Spade were guilty, Polhaus would feel awkward in arresting him. Yet, Polhaus has known Spade for a while, and accepts the private detective's innocence. The two homicide detectives question private investigator Sam Spade on whether he murdered Floyd Thursby (who supposedly murdered Spade's partner, Miles Archer). Hamilton, author of Western and Hard-Boiled Detective Fiction in America: From High Noon to Midnight reveals a frightening aspect about the police in The Maltese Falcon: "The police are unable to deal effectively with the lawlessness " (129). Lieutenant Dundee and Sergeant Tom Polhaus represent the police in the city. Lieutenant Dundee, Sergeant Tom Polhaus, District Attorney Bryan, Caspar Gutman, and Brigid O'Shaughnessy represent the damaging aspects of the city in The Maltese Falcon. ![]() ![]() One example is The Maltese Falcon, which takes place in San Francisco. While the idea of the American city might be imbued with notions of opportunity and civilization, there is something very sinister about the locale as well. This notion can especially be true in a place like the city, where people are forced to live among each other. George Grella, author of "The Hard-Boiled Detective Novel,” explains: "wherever human beings gather, evil results" (112). The human condition can be a very negative thing. ![]() ![]() ![]() The scrubs are no longer forced to work for the uppers. The Force of Sheep Rebellion was successful and there is a committee in charge of Inside. Outside In takes place a few weeks after Inside Out. I guess I should just learn my lesson, never doubt the creativity of an author to come up with a story and a fantastic follow-up. I certainly didn’t think the story could continue with the same characters, because the ship was scheduled to land like 100 years after Trella dies. However, I wasn’t really sure where Snyder could take the story. Then I read inside out and fell in love with Trella and Sheepy and Riley. I will admit, I was nervous when I first read Inside Out because a few friends had read it, but didn’t really enjoy it.
